Tis I! The Long Lost Blogger!

Okay, let’s just slap a huge sticker on my forehead that says “worst blogger ever” because that’s seriously what I am!

My gosh, where do the days go?! Times slips through my fingers like grains of sand – I vow that one of my New Year’s resolutions will be to blog way more frequently than I already do. So much for weekly or even bimonthly posts.

That was a joke.

Of course, it’s an annual routine for me to become extremely busy during the fall, particularly as the holidays approach. Excitement begins to fill my being and my mind with happy thoughts of spending more time with my family, hot chocolate, pumpkins, turkeys, Christmas caroling, preparing delicious food…yes, the food is probably one of the the most bestest things about Thanksgiving and Christmas!

Really, the food is something I think most people look forward to, because it’s just so dang good!! What beats that traditional cornbread, turkey or sweet potato soufflé? And of course, let’s not forget the roasted ham, gingerbread, or the plum pudding during Christmastime! And that’s not even half of the food…

I’m making myself hungry just thinking about it… I think I’ll grab a snack. *leaves for the kitchen*

*comes back 15 minutes later*

Now where was I?

Food.

Let’s change the subject…

So for the past several months I’ve immersed myself in the German language! Since I’ve visited Switzerland, I’ve been eager to learn it like crazy! The Swiss do speak a dialect totally different from German, but the German language was still everywhere and how I kicked myself for not knowing nothing more than ‘hello’ and ‘how are you’ and ‘my name is’.

Pathetic, I know. Don’t tell me.

Thankfully, most people spoke English and I had no trouble communicating, even to the ones who didn’t speak it at all. It was fun. And it worked to my benefit for I picked up a LOT of German in such a short amount of time! To those who say German is a difficult language, I have to kind of disagree. It can be tricky, but I don’t find it extremely hard at all. Before, when I lacked the motivation to learn, it seem IMPOSSIBLE. But now that I have that desire to learn it, remembering words, pronunciation, and writing is really not as hard as I thought it’d be. But that’s just me.

As with all things, practice makes perfect. I’ll be the first to admit I often get my grammar a bit mixed up with the different cases.

And my vocab isn’t enormous either. It’s rather pitiful… but then, I’ve only learned for a few months, anyway.

It helps to have a few native speakers help me out, and due do this I practice everyday. If I didn’t, my German would go down the tube. And then where would I be when I visited Germany or Switzerland?? I want to personally communicate with them in their native language 🙂

So now I leave. This was just a weird, random  and small update what’s been happening here in the whimsical world.

You’ll probably hear from me next year sometime, haha. But hopefully not 😉

Til then, I remain,

Whimsically Late ❤

Thank you so much! Wow, I’ll get to answering them right away 😉
Hey, that’ll be a New Year’s Resolution for me – post something entirely in German!
