Georgia Girl headed to Colorado – time for some change!

3 weeks exactly before I fly out West.

Honestly, part of me can’t believe it still… I mean, I never thought I’d be moving to Colorado. It will be short-term, true, but still… it will be a bit longer than when I had stayed in Europe.

It’s funny, cause I’ve tried to kind of weigh out my options around here in my area but nothing just ever felt right… and for the first couple of months after I got back from Switzerland I had felt a bit emotionally and mentally drained.. I think perhaps I might have been over doing some things.

But always, always, always … I needed a job. It just wouldn’t leave me. Expenses are beginning to add up and I knew that I had to get one, but I really wanted a good job. A job that would benefit me and help me in life; a job that offered opportunity and would perhaps be life-changing. I’m kind of picky when it comes to things like this, but I just felt in my gut that I had to try something different.

I don’t exactly remember what I searched on google… some random phrase.. but it brought up the website ‘Cool Works’. On this website, one can land a job in nearly anywhere in the US and perhaps even get lucky to pick a job that offers free room/board. After scrolling through some of the jobs, this one in particular jumped out at me. It was offering job training opportunities for hospitality in the Colorado Rockies.

From the moment I read the headline and saw the pictures I just knew.

I immediately mentioned it to my mom. Told her my plan and wanted to see what she thought. I had had the notion of perhaps moving to New York City temporarily to become a live-in nanny (for they pay REAL WELL up there… them some rich city folks 😀 haha ) but this opportunity in Colorado seemed perfect. She thought it was great. And after applying for the job, I got a few emails right away and then a call on the phone. We set up a Skype interview together which went even better than I imagined. A few days later, another call and I was informed that I got the job! 😀 😀

I also did try to put some of my Southern Charm out there and I think it worked 😉

I’ve been trying to start slowly packing up my things – mainly organizing or going through clothes, getting rid of some of them, or boxing up things I’m not going to have time for in a while.

I’m currently trying to locate my hiking boots – this is a must have! I’ve had the same pair since I’ve lived in Wyoming (which was nearly 10 years ago… my foot size hasn’t changed since). They’re a nice pair.. but I’ve not been able to find them anywhere. Lord knows, I’m stretching the dollar as it is… I’d really prefer not to fork out extra money for new hiking boots.

Fingers crossed that I’ll be able to find them.

I’ve gotten my coats down from the attic and will be sorting through the winter clothes tomorrow. I was advised to ‘pack in layers’.

I plan on heading to Oregon to visit my sister while I’m out there. Might as well. Would be best after the job runs out – I’ll be done before Christmas 🙂

But I’m real excited to embrace the new adventures ahead me and look forward to documenting them as I have them and sharing moments on Instagram 🙂

Oh… and this is where I’ll be staying (It’s just a random photo from Google Images):

It reminds me so much of Switzerland… ❤
